More than 80 high school students presented over 60 scientific projects at the first international environmental forum "Shoqan Ecology 2024", which was held on April 6-7. The event was organized by Shoqan Walikhanov Private School with the support of the Central Asian Institute of Environmental Research (CAIER).
The participants came from various parts of our country, including the cities of Astana, Almaty, Aktau, Kokshetau, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Taraz and Turkestan, as well as the Zhetysu region. Leading Kazakh scientists in the field of ecology, biology, petrochemistry, mining and chemical industry, metallurgy and waste processing made up the jury team.
The main goal of the forum was to encourage research activities among schoolchildren, develop research skills, stimulate intellectual and creative potential, and increase students' interest in education and science.
Young scientists presented their scientific works in the following sections: “Environmental pollution and solutions”, “Business and technology”, “Alternative energy sources” and “Waste management (Reduce-Recycle-Reuse)”.
A total of 52 works were awarded cash prizes. The total prize fund was 10 million tenge.
The following forum participants won the Grand Prix and received 1,000,000 tenge each:

Aimer KOSHMAMBETOV of Taraz PhM NIS with the project called “Smart Trash Bin”
Arthur GRIGORIEV of №134 Lyceum in Almaty Taraz PhM NIS with the project called “Application of technologies for producing and storing “green” hydrogen to accumulate energy obtained from renewable energy sources”
Arman SABYRZHAN and Mardan MYNZHASSAR of Shoqan School with the project called “STEM X”
